About The Chef

Head pastry chef and owner, Ashlea Allen, uses her French training to create French inspired pastries with a rustic edge.

She completed her training at L'ecole Grégoire-Ferrandi, one of France's leading culinary training schools, where she learnt the fine art of Pâtisserie.

She then went on to work in Paris at world renowned, La Pâtisserie des Rêves (under her idol Philippe Conticini), followed by Le Grenier à Pain. On her return to Australia she worked at Tivoli Road Bakery as head pastry chef.

Ashlea, originally an Exercise Scientist, decided on her career change to follow her passion for the food industry. She dreamt of opening a café that made everything from scratch and that fed and warmed the bellies of the surrounding community. After many years of; experience in the industry, business planning and plenty of markets, That Place was born.

Now with a talented team by her side, they are producing the products that she once imagined.
